BlackBerry maker Research in Motion has acquired Riverside Commons, a Las Colinas-based office campus featuring 460,297 square feet of space and six office buildings.
Research in Motion is a Canadian company that has been a tenant at the complex since February of 2007. The company’s lease of 134,177 square feet of office space was used as Research in Motion’s official U.S. headquarters.
The seller, Dallas-based Westmount Realty, has owned the complex since 2006 and completed a $5.7 million renovation program on campus.
“This sale is indicative of the strength of the Las Colinas submarket and recognition of the high quality that the Riverside Commons complex represents,” said Steve Kanoff, Westmount’s executive vice president and partner. “Research in Motion’s presence in the North Texas marketplace is a milestone in itself and the national prestige the company brings to the area is significant.”
